Dionisio's Blender Work

Post#1 by Dionísio » 27 Dec 2018, 16:16

Going to post some of my work in Blender here;
This knife was my first try at trying to understand texturing concepts and baking normal maps. I followed this tutorial series.
It's a printscreen of the viewport, the lightning set-up is a simple HDRI.

Without texture;

Puddings in 2.8 LookDev Render; I wanted to make them low-poly as I could without having too many ''jagged edges''.

I enjoy sculpting in Blender. This one one of my comic characters; I wanted to keep him in my 2D style (the references on the right).
Never started on his clothes, though I made a concept on top the block-out of the character.

Cloths sketch made on Krita (GIMP is very moody with my drawing tablet, would love to fix that):

And this is my first "full character". I sculpted and retopologized him in 2.79, but exported to 2.8 for this screenshot.

He was made before the other character I posted, so his eyes have a different style (that I quite didn't like). I mean, the placement looks very nice for me but the way it interacts with the 3D shadows is just a complete mess...

I've drawn this model-sheet in Krita to help model and sculpt him:

And sketching to choose colors:

Couldn't manage to embed the SketchFab version here, but it's in my Behance for who wants to see the full character in 3D.

@Dionísio Wow... you're much more experienced in Blender than I am. It's great you can design your own characters. I've still a long way to go before I can do that.

Glad you joined the Blender forum :yay_yay_purple:

Thank you @@Ella! I always enjoyed drawing, but just started in the 3D world about two years ago. I think the most difficult parts of learning 3D are the "core concepts" - there's still so much in Blender (and 3D in general) that I have no idea how to approach. Just after hours and hours of videos that I started to look at textures in my models and go: "Oh, wait, I think I get how metal works now!" :fb_wow:
My learning is based on watching tutoriais, not understanding a part of said tutorial and searching for another one for the parts I missed the information. :fb_haha:

I would love to see this! Many of my works in GIMP are inspired by him, with his tutorials I'm slowly starting to understand Bevel Reflect Logo... But I still struggle a lot with Chisel and Carve. :hammer_head:
